Chapter 74
As Cahill halted his steps and cast a glance back at him, who was in pursuit, George stopped in surprise.
“Have you heard of the legendary Prince of Aisen?”
George looked at Cahill in disbelief, then rolled his eyes in hindsight.
“One day, a child with transcendent power was born in the Kingdom of Aisen.”
As he even lowered his voice as if talking about something serious, George gazed at him with blank eyes while Cahill pointed his finger at himself.
“That’s me.”
Grinning with curled eyes, his eyes twinkled fiercely as he said so. George contorted his face at Cahill, who boasted about himself without batting an eyelid. Still, he didn’t care and continued.
“However, the perfect me has only one flaw.”
Uttering so, he leaned over. George flinched at the cold energy that suddenly attacked his body.
“Since I was young, I have too much ability, so I can’t control it well.”
Cahill whispered in his ear as if telling a secret story and then walked away from him. George was already frozen white and unable to blink.
“If I get angry, I might freeze things without realizing it.”
George looked at him, pale as if he had seen a ghost.
Cahill’s low voice stuck in both his ear and mind. However, he shook his head and gathered himself. He didn’t want to show weakness to humans.
“I am the son of the elder! Even if you are the prince, if you treat me carelessly, you will be kicked out of the country.”
He cried out but still looked terrified.
When Cahill narrowed his brow and closed his mouth, he had a triumphant face. However, what Cahill said next was different from what George had originally expected.
“If we are kicked out, can we build a country?”
Cahill looked directly at George, who was startled and raised his lips sharply. His silver-gray eyes flashed, and George shuddered with chills down his spine.
“Because Holly never said for me to be the King of any country…”
He thought it would be okay to end the trip like this.
George, who was standing dumbfounded, saw Cahill as he smiled contentedly. The soft smile hanging from Cahill’s lips disappeared.
“That warning is the last.”
Cahill looked down at George with cold eyes.
“If you touch Holly one more time, your race will become a legend in history.”
A chill dripped from his words.
In the meanwhile, George’s teeth rattled as the cold chilled his bones. He gritted his teeth and trembled, making no reply.
Holly picked up a bite-sized piece of fruit and popped it into her mouth.
“Ugh…!”
The moment she bit into it, her nose crunched at the sour taste that filled her mouth. The hungry Holly couldn’t bear to spit it out and chewed it down.
“Does it taste awful?”
She could only answer Cahill’s question by nodding in tears. Finding it cute, he gazed at her before dragging a banana leaf from the one in front of George and exchanging it for her. George looked at him with a frown but couldn’t vent his displeasure.
Holly looked at the two with strange eyes before examining the fruit wrapped in banana leaves. Among them, there was also the same fruit that Shiver fed her before signing the contract. She was pleased and put it in her mouth.
The sweetness, unlike before, amused her.
“Good?”
“You should try it, too.”
Cahill smiled contentedly and opened his mouth. As Holly’s fingers, sweeter than the berries, pressed lightly on his tongue and came out, he suppressed the regret by chewing on the fruit she had fed him.
“After eating only plants for a few meals, I don’t feel like eating even if I have to eat.”
Badin, who ate his portion of the fruit till it was gone without a trace, murmured gloomily. He said that the whole of Lauriue was under the elves’ watch, so he couldn’t light a fire recklessly yet. For the time being, he couldn’t even dream of meat.
Holly looked at George and spoke softly.
“I heard that your family has been a fire elementalist for generations. Isn’t it okay to light a fire with the spirit?”
At those words, George’s white face turned red. He glared at her with resentful eyes.
Holly suddenly tilted her head, not knowing why he was upset. Glaring at her, he then looked at Cahill’s eyes before putting on a grim expression. He sighed and sprang up from his seat.
“Did you guys forget what to look for?”
George let out a gruff sigh and flung himself up a tree. Holly stared at him in bewilderment, then turned her head away when he completely disappeared.
“If you don’t have the family treasure, you can’t make a contract with the spirit at all?”
She asked George, lowering her voice in case he could hear it. Otherwise, he would have no reason to mention the treasure and no reason to be angry about the spirits.
‘Then, wouldn’t it be better not to have the family treasure?’
Even without the family treasure, she made a contract with the spirit, so that was why she had a blank expression.
The next moment, Adam, who had the most information in the group, shook his head.
“I’ve never heard of anything like that.”
“Holly did just fine without it.”
Cahill looked at Holly and shrugged his shoulders, telling her not to mind, while Adam nodded at his words and scanned the few remaining fruits with his eyes. Perhaps it was because he felt awkward that he couldn’t light a fire.
“Shall we go to sleep now? We will have to walk a lot tomorrow, too…”
Adam glanced at Holly. He seemed concerned about her physical condition as the only woman in the party. However, Badin closed his eyes, more pleased than Holly.
‘I am grateful for your concern, but…’
For her, whose daily life was carrying trays from dawn to dawn in Centuria, just walking was not too difficult.
“Shall I?”
Still, she gladly accepted Adam’s favor.
As she lay down, she left enough space for one person to lie down between Cahill and her, causing him to look at her with disgruntled eyes. Holly’s eyes widened whenever he tried to come closer, so he couldn’t move at will.
Soon, she squeezed her eyes shut so as not to fall for the pathetically wet eyes.
Some time had passed.
‘Cold…’
Holly couldn’t sleep as her body shuddered. Her body trembled on the high ground, and she curled up even more.
“Come here.”
She opened her eyes, enchanted by the voice that broke the silence for a moment. Cahill, who she thought was asleep, lifted his robe with his hand and gazed at her. Holly lay down and lifted her head to look around.
Maybe everyone was in a deep sleep or didn’t care if they heard her. Everyone was motionless.
“It will get colder in the morning.”
He urged her, who couldn’t move easily. As she hesitated, an impatient sigh came from one side of her.
Startled, she turned her head and saw Adam lying not far away.
“If we get late because you’re sick with a cold, it’s a big deal, so just do what you’re told.”
Adam said curtly without even raising his head.
In the end, Holly narrowed her eyes at him before moving up to his master. Cahill smiled brightly and wrapped his robe around her.
“You can’t sleep?”
“I guess it’s because I fell asleep for a while earlier.”
Cahill patted her back with his hand, trying to put her to sleep. She didn’t know if she couldn’t sleep, but the cold had definitely lessened.
“You don’t want to sleep?”
“I can stay up all night for a month with no problem!”
Holly didn’t know if it was a boast or just a joke, but she smiled and rubbed her face on his chest. However, even though her body warmed up, sleep did not come easily. Holly, who had closed her eyes for a moment, raised her head again.
“Cahill. What do you want to do first when you become king?”
Despite her sudden words, he looked troubled with a serious face.
“Ah!”
Then, in sudden realization, his eyes twinkled.
‘He seemed to have no interest in the position of king, but I guess that wasn’t the case.’
At the thought, she stared at him while waiting for his answer. Seeing the anticipating Holly, Cahil grinned and spoke.
“I will change the bed.”
When she narrowed her brows, wondering if she had heard it wrong, he spoke excitedly.
