Chapter 81
Adam’s cool reply made George speechless. Holly, who caught a glimpse of George, came closer to Adam and whispered softly.
“But what if the King is disappointed because we didn’t get a reward?”
To put it mildly, she would be disappointed. She was worried about what the King, who was said to be a heartless mother, would do to Cahill.
Adam pulled away from her slightly and spoke.
“If we go back and explain the situation, Her Majesty will understand. In the first place, His Highness Cahill is not the type to help others if it is of no value to him.”
Holly nodded, remembering her first meeting with Cahill.
“I’m sorry. I will apologize properly later, so please hide me for just a moment.”
“Why me?”
Holly then mingled with Cahill. Cahill liked his relationship with Holly so much that he helped her run away.
‘I didn’t sleep under those conditions, but…’
At the thought, her eyes glanced towards Cahill, feeling something new. On the other hand, looking at her with puzzled eyes, he smiled with a pleased look somehow.
“Still, she’s his mother. She knows that better than anyone else.”
“Then, that’s a relief.”
With Adam’s words, she was able to shake off her remaining discomfort. However, it seemed that George wasn’t the only one with regrets.
“Are you just going to leave after heating it up?”
When Holly turned around at the seductive voice, she saw one of the Lamias run her hand through her wet hair, giving a seductive look.
George swallowed a gulp.
“The disturbers will disappear, so just enjoy it with those who want to enjoy it.”
Adam spoke with an unwavering expression, and he added, looking at George.
“Who knows, if you satisfy their desire, maybe she will tell you honestly where the treasure is?”
George, who was shaken, was completely taken over by Adam’s words.
‘… Don’t say that you follow along because you wanted to do that from the beginning?’
Holly narrowed her eyes as she watched George approach Lamia without hesitation.
‘Rather than telling him where the treasure is, I think they’ll take everything he has right now…’
Regardless, she didn’t think to speak up and give George advice anyway.
‘If you play with your lower body carelessly, you will be ruined because of your lower body.’
Lamia’s lips twisted, missing its desired prey. However, they did not miss the food that came in on its own. Lamia came to the shore and put her arms around George’s neck, who extended his hand towards her, and she whispered in his ear.
“I will give you eternal pleasure.”
It was the moment when they were about to take their steps away, after leaving behind a voice that sounded somewhat cold, that snakes slithered up and blocked the road. When Cahill turned around, Lamia’s face brightened.
He scanned them with cold eyes.
“If you stand in my way one more time, then you will know what it is like to die alive.”
Cahill’s tone was slow and languid as usual, but the voice had a temperature that could not be ignored. The snakes followed the frozen Lamia and retreated, clearing the path.
“No one enters our territory and leaves without giving anything.”
Even though Lamia’s voice came from behind, huffing and puffing in exasperation, Cahill didn’t care and hugged Holly’s waist.
Lamia’s eyes became more fierce when she saw that.
“I will especially accept your life.”
As soon as Lamia finished speaking, the snakes around the group flew away. Seeing the snake rushing towards Cahill, Holly moved first.
“Shiver!”
At the name, a strong wind blew.
Wam!
She flinched in surprise at the sound, like something was hit hard. The snake that rushed at Cahill had its head caught by him, and its tongue was hanging out.
“Are you okay?”
Holly, who was frozen and blinking, turned her head when she heard a voice coming from behind. It was surprisingly Adam who pulled her back.
“Yes, thank you.”
As she expressed her gratitude with a bewildered face, Adam let go of his arm that was holding her with a proud look. Only then did she have time to look around. Numerous snakes were impaled by the ice blades thrown by Cahil and were stuck on the ground.
“Good job.”
While Cahill, who was always wary of Shiver, approached its first and stroked its head, Holly looked at the triumphant Shiver in confusion.
“You need to change your habit of putting your body forward when you’re startled.”
He eventually returned to her and spoke in a stern voice.
“There is no one among these who cannot protect themselves. You just have to take care of yourself.”
Despite the fact that Cahill’s words were heartbreakingly cold, she knew it was because he was worried about her.
‘…Because this is my second time.’
Still, Holly felt just as wronged because it was inevitable that her body would instinctively jump out first.
“I didn’t know there were cases where the spirit did not follow the will of the contractor…”
Badin, holding a snake in one of his hands, muttered in surprise. Similarly, Adam looked at Holly with interest and nodded his head.
“I think I heard that the higher the affinity, the more the safety of the contractor is prioritized over the will.”
The snake that Badin was holding had one part of its body dented as if it had been crushed by something strong.
“Is that what Shiver did?”
When Holly asked, Adam nodded his head.
“Yes. It seems like it’s imitating Holly’s kick, right?”
“My kicks aren’t that strong…”
Only then did she realize why Cahill was angry at her. It was because he was the only one attacked by snakes. It was Shiver and Adam, who saved Holly as she stepped out to protect him.
“Thank you, Shiver.”
After greeting Shiver, she turned and looked at Cahill. She could see his jaw tense. During the trip, he rarely took his eyes off Holly, but now, he was so angry that he didn’t even look at her and was just glaring into space.
Cahill left Holly and trudged toward the swamp.
When they saw him approaching, the Lamias faces turned bright red. The corner of Cahill’s mouth twitched as he silently looked at a Lamia, who was showing off her attractive figure.
“Did what I said sound like a joke?”
The Lamias felt the change in the swamp and became agitated.
Cahill only uttered a single word, and thin ice was slowly spreading from the outside of the swamp. As the ice spread quickly, the Lamia were confused at the sight they saw for the first time.
“What?”
“The swamp is getting cold!”
Seeing the Lamias soon delighted with the lowering water temperature, Holly shook her head at the Lamias’ reactions, who had no idea what was ahead as ice instantly covered half of the swamp. Adam, who was letting out a series of exclamations, sent an admiring look towards Cahill.
“As expected, His Highness is amazing!”
Adam was crying in thrill. Holly, seeing his violent reaction, tilted her head.
“Can’t all Aisen people do that?”
Holly also saw Cahill let a snowfall out the window from inside the cabin, so she thought that everyone in the Kingdom of Aisen had that level of power.
“Freezing that much of an area without even touching it is not something anyone can do.”
When Adam replied with a straight face, she nodded quickly to calm him down.
“I see. Cahill is amazing.”
“Let’s go.”
Cahill looked up from the swamp and put his arm around her shoulder. She didn’t know if his anger was relieved by her praise or if he just wanted to get out of this place quickly.
“Go first. I have urgent business…’
Holly turned her head at the voice that came from behind.
It was Badin who stopped at a distance from the group. She gazed at Lamia and Badin alternately, who seemed to still have lingering feelings, with a worried face.
“Isn’t it dangerous to be alone? Together…”
Before she could finish speaking, Cahill subtly pushed her back forward as if to tell her to go quickly. And almost at the same time, the Lamias started screaming.
“Huh? My body can’t move!”
“What is this?! It hurts!”
Lamia, who had been pounding the ice with their bare hands, belatedly tried to get out of the swamp with their hands on the surface of the water. However, as soon as their hand touched it, they felt a sharp, cold pain as if their flesh would be torn apart.
“Kyaaak! It won’t let go!”
