Try Crying Prettier - Chapter 1
Translator and Editor: Shin and Majormandorin
It was just a dream.
Akkad realized this quickly because, in reality, he knew he’d never agree to drink tea alone with his sister, Sienna.
Putting the teacup down with a clink, Sienna called his name. Her cold tone showed no favor to their blood and flesh relation.
Instead of answering, Akkad frowned. Drinking tea alone with Sienna was uncomfortable for him, even if it was only in a dream.
As usual, Sienna did not falter under his bitter gaze. With her silver, fierce eyes, she looked down on Akkad with an arrogant face and snickered.
“You think you’re so brilliant, don’t you?”
“Why do you say such provocative things?”
Akkad bared his teeth without hesitating. His manly, handsome face shone in the blazing light like a prideful lion roaring.
“If you’re saying nonsense because something is upsetting you, just shut up and finish your tea. Don’t bother others with your meaningless words.”
Akkad warned her.
As a commander of the Royal Knights, he was very tall and possessed an overwhelmingly powerful physique. His easily irritable temperament only made him more intimidating. For these reasons, feeble women and even men in his presence, whined like a sickly dog in fear.
Unfortunately, his wild nature did not appall Sienna. Unlike her younger brother, she was thin and slender, but her fierce temper was just as frightening.
Sienna, who didn’t raise a single eyebrow, ignored Akkad’s comment and chuckled.
“I’m saying this out of pity for a moron like you. Listen carefully, if you don’t get rid of that trash-like life of yours, you’ll fall to your demise.”
It was like a slap in the face. For once, Akkad was lost for words, forgetting to be angry.
Although Sienna had a bad temper, she would never say something so recklessly. She was violent by physical means, but always cautious when speaking since her predictions usually came true.
Sienna Valerian was the kingdom’s greatest fortune-teller, having the ability to see the future with her silver eyes.
“Open your clogged earholes, and listen to me! Since you have decided to open it, it’s better to change your rotten mindset. Otherwise, no matter how much you cry or pray later, it’ll be futile!”
Impossible, no one has ever dared to humiliate or disrespect him this way.
However, the dream ended here. Suddenly, the ground cracked open, and Akhad emerged. Siena, who was in the same room, moved out of the way.
She looked at him with pitiful eyes before leaving the room. That made Akkad burst with rage.
“God damn it!! Why are you running away?! Sienna!!”
Suddenly, his feet started to sink into the ground, and a dark abyss devoured him.
At that exact moment, when he was struggling to break free from the horrifying dream, someone grabbed his shoulder.
The surprised Akkad suddenly jolted his upper body up in shock. He was still confused, unable to distinguish between dreams and reality.
With a half-conscious mind, he suddenly grasped the hand that touched his shoulder. Without mercy, he proceeded to twist it then grab the person who had dared to touch him.
The screams that came to his ears were faint. Not only that, the body that he firmly held was fragile and soft.
Only then did the startled Akkad come to his senses. After blinking enough to clear his blurry vision, he could see crimson red hair flowing like rose petals. It was a familiar color.
A crying voice came from beneath his towering body. As he lowered his head, he saw a woman who he was crushing under his muscular forearm. She looked up at Akkad with tearful eyes.
“Sir, please put your hands away.”
She was a breathtakingly gorgeous woman. Her skin was as white as snow, and her round forehead, delicate nose, and plump lips were as delicate as a fairy.
Most alluring of all was her crying face. Akkad was enchanted, almost believing he was in a dream.
“Please, put your hand away…It hurts. Please?”
The woman squeezed her eyes from the pain, her long eyelashes wet. Tears, smooth as silk, flowed down her cheeks and fell on Akkad’s arms, which held her down.
The sensation was like a hot candle. The surprised Akkad finally realized that this was not a dream.
He quickly removed his arms and examined the woman’s slender body. The weak limbs felt so tender, the vulnerability making his heart pound.
“….Are you okay?”
In general, most women would scream and cry out of agony and fear. Yet this woman, despite her appearance, had tough endurance. Even as she gasped from the pain, the most she did was tightly shutting her eyes.
Akkad glanced between her pale face and reddened shoulder.
‘I didn’t break her bones.. right?’
Akkad, being in the worst situation, frowned. Although he had a bad temper, he would never hit a woman. Yet here he was, holding a noble lady, not even married, with potentially broken bones.
If he was unlucky, she would tell him to take responsibility for hurting her and asked him to marry her. The ominous imagination sickened Akkad. It would be better if she just asked him for money. Akkad couldn’t stand the emotional punishment.
“Let me see.”
Exhaling, Akkad pulled down the sheet that covered her body. Then, he carefully touched her white and clean body without hesitation. With precision, he checked the condition of her bone by pressing every inch of her small neck that was not bigger than his fist, her shoulder, and the backside of her body.
‘Fortunately, there’s no damage.’
From a young age, Akkad mastered the sword, the reason why he used self-defense techniques even unconsciously in his sleep. However, he remembered that in a split second he took away the power of his grip. The body he caught was so delicate, so if something wrong were to happen, it would cause him big trouble.
At the time, the pain seemed to have subsided slowly. She lifted her gaze carefully with tears on her cheeks.
She was a woman who looked prettier when crying. The moment he saw her shining blue eyes, Akkad remembered her name.
She was the daughter of Count Primula, also known as the most beautiful woman in Northern society. She was also the sweet-tasting woman who warmed up his bedroom last night.
“I’m fine. Just a little….surprised.”
Still rubbing her reddened shoulder, she laughed. Her face was calm with no sign of resentment.
When Akkad saw that, he felt so awful. Even though he was half asleep, how could he have raised his hand against the woman who spent the night with him?
This was all because that damned Sienna Valerian came, bringing that unlucky dream. Having a strong sense of pride, he was abruptly displeased by his own mistake. With a stiff face and cold tone, he interrogated Damie.
“So why did you bother a sleeping person?”
Any woman would be disappointed if the man she spent the passionate night with suddenly became cold. But Damie was not bothered by that. Awkwardly, she looked down, answering in a small voice,
“I thought you were having a nightmare. So I was trying to wake you up…..”
“It’s dangerous to touch the body of a man, no less a skilled swordsman! Next time, don’t do that.”
“I wasn’t aware of that. I will be more careful in the future.”
No matter how much Akkad acted like a bastard, Damie wasn’t upset or angry.
Quite impressed, Akkad’s violet eyes slowly glanced over Damie’s half-exposed naked body. She was so beautiful that he wanted to engrave it with his eyes. If the thing that ‘doesn’t look plain’ like that is a skill, it was her skill.
‘No matter how much I look, she just doesn’t look like the type to play with fire. Interesting.’
‘I don’t know what caused her to throw herself to the playboy like me. But if it’s a woman like her, I think I could continue to sleep with her.’
Until, of course, he became tired of it.
Unaware of his selfish thoughts, Damie slipped out of the soft bed. She covered her body with a thin sheet and looked around the floor. The night had already passed, so she should find her clothes and leave from there.
‘There you are.’
Damie, who found her dress stuck in a corner, reached out. But even before she could reach her clothes, he could feel the heat of a hot man behind her back.
“You dare run away?”
A large hand that appeared from the air grabbed her wrist.
The face that came close to her lips laughed fiercely, sparking sexual desire.
