Chapter 42 – Part 2
The next day after a chaotic day.
Today was the day I would take lessons from Hilla. Still, I couldn’t help but smile awkwardly at him because I’d been avoiding him since yesterday.
“I called you a few times yesterday Miss, but you ran away.”
“Hmm, no…”
“I think you definitely heard me, though.”
Hilla raised his glasses once. I spoke with a little temper.
“You, you keep on…”
“I keep on?”
“Ca, calling me Princess!”
Why are you even calling me with that nickname?!
Hilla let out a short laugh.
“Everyone was calling you that way. Why are you only avoiding me?”
“Because Hilla kept saying that I am the only one Princess.”
“That is outright discrimination.”
“Tch.”
“Fortunately, it looks like you are completely healthy.”
Hilla gazed at me for a while and then soon looked relieved. I eventually decided to tell him the truth because it was just the two of us.
“It wasn’t actually the flu.”
“Then…?”
“Hilla, you know, I think I got the witch’s powers–no, I got it. I was sick because I awakened my magical powers.”
Hilla’s eyes grew as bright as a fire.
“When? Do you mean now…?”
“Yesterday, when I met Arumia again.”
“Arupel… Ah, yes So, you met that boy again.”
“Hmm. It’s a long explanation of how I got my powers, although I want to tell you this first. Hilla, there was a blue bruise in Arumia’s arm.”
Hilla’s face immediately hardened when he heard my words.
“…A bruise?”
“Yeah, Arumia said it wasn’t, but it was really a bruise. This~ big.”
Saying so, I then showed him my wrist and gave him an estimate of the size of the wound I saw on her.
“Is Arumia’s parents’ bad people?”
Lost in thought, Hilla shook his head.
“No, I don’t think so. I don’t think they did that. However…”
Hilla was lost in thought again and said nothing more. Because of that, I continued to speak, “So I gave Arumia the medicine you gave me, and then suddenly I was moved to somewhere with Arumia—like magic.”
“…I will separately find out the cause of his bruise. So, where did you end up?”
“As for where it was, it was an extremely white place. The walls are white, the doors are white—everything is white!”
Hilla was surprised but encouraged me to keep talking. As I told him that I met a white man, and that led to the opening of my ability, he didn’t hide his surprised face.
“Witches call it a curtain. Something like a barrier. Hilla, do you know about this ability?”
“A curtain?”
“Yes, the veil.”
Gearing about my power, he suddenly turned around and quickly rummaged through the bookshelf.
“What are you doing?”
I asked as I looked at Hilla’s back, who was frantically rummaging through the shelves. He seemed to be searching for something in a hurry.
“Please, wait for a moment. There’s something I compiled about the witches’ abilities.”
“Witches’ abilities?”
He then clicked his tongue for a while before pulling out some thickly bounded papers and two books. Hilla put the bound papers and books in front of me, then said, “This is all the data I’ve been researching on. Information about the witches.”
“…All of this?”
“Yes. I have spent most of my life searching for the powers of witches and the families associated with them.”
“Heh.”
“I still have a lot to figure out, but since you’ve awakened your ability, then it will help you find your family.”
“Wow…”
The paper documents were full of letters written in elegant handwriting. If all the writings here were replaced with ink, it would be a few bottles.
“Did Hilla make this to find your family?”
He smiled with a slightly sad expression on her face.
“That’s true, and I longed for my sisters. Although I wanted to be like them, I never could.”
“…Well.”
“It was then that I realized that there are areas that I cannot reach no matter how much I learn.”
“Oh…”
“Well, I’m just saying. Let’s talk about that gloomy story later.”
I clenched my fists and glanced up at Hilla.
“Hilla, I told you that I would help you.”
“Yes, you said so.”
I got up from my seat and added.
“I have a way to help Hilla.”
“…A way to help?”
“Yes.”
I decided to introduce Kuhn to Hilla, who was bitter while he was talking about his family. Rising up from my seat and opening Hilla’s office window widely, I then supported my stomach and shouted.
“Ku~hn!”
“….”
Hilla looked at me with a strange expression.
Hmph, just you wait a minute.
I gazed triumphantly at the window and waited for Kuhn to come.
Flap! Flap!
Soon, I heard the flapping of wings, and Kuhn was now settled by the window in the shape of a crow.
