Chapter 35 – Part 2
At first, they thought she was a doll—one with a big ribbon on top of her head, wearing a red dress with lots of frills. She had never laid her eyes upon such a dull dress. It really suited the child to the point that she was jealous.
‘What’s so pretty about her?’
Her black hair, like ebony, was waist-long. And how could her eyes look so big? Her deep purple eyes glistened in the sun, as if studded with amethysts. She had pure white skin, plump cheeks, and a small, cherry-red mouth. She blinked at them and looked at Luca.
She just went up to the stairs and put her hand on the railing.
“Sister,” the voice of her younger brother called out, “is that kid that kid?”
Luca cleared out her throat. “I think so.”
There was no reason for her to be intimidated even if that girl was that rumored child.
‘That’s right, she’s just an illegitimate child.’
Luca’s father, Viscount Rochelle, always said something.
‘Luca, you will soon become an important person, someone who will become more precious than that little girl who is only an illegitimate child.’
Luca resolutely believed in those words. She stared at the approaching child without blinking.
From what I heard from Pihne, outsiders apparently couldn’t enter the main building without permission.
’But how are you here in the main building? And this is not even the Great Hall on the first floor but up the second floor. Did Dad let them in?‘
Ordinary parents would have invited the children of their vassals to the main building to make friends with their children, but if I thought about my father…
He absolutely would not.
It was possible that Dante told him to do it. Pihne could have also done the same thing, but it didn’t matter to me since they didn’t say anything about it.
I went to my room pretending that I didn’t know as much as they knew.
‘No, why do you keep looking at me?’
The eyes of the brother and sister duo were piercing me. It wasn’t even a greeting, just continuous staring. I saw that the girl was taller than me as I got closer to them.
‘You’re eight years old? I envy you.’
I glanced at the girl’s height, then opened my door and walked in.
“Lucy, I’m here!” I shouted at Lucy, who was diligently cleaning the window sills with her back facing me.
“Ah, I am Luna, Miss.” Holding the towel, Luna turned around and smiled at me like the sunlight.
“Uwaa, I don’t know from your back.”
It was really hard to spot the difference between them as Lucy and Luna. They looked really similar, but they were indistinguishable from their back.
“Hehe, our parents were actually confused too. But still, you can recognize us right away just by looking at our faces.”
“Luna has one more dot here and Lucy doesn’t have it.” I pointed near my eyes. Their noses were also slightly different if you looked at them closely. Lucy looked a little coy while Luna was slightly on the sweet side.
“That’s right. But what happened to Miss Pihne that you came alone?”
“Pihne was just too busy so I said that I would go to my room first. But Luna, there are kids out there.” I pointed to the door I entered.
“Outside?”
“Hmm, there are two of them in the hallway on the second floor.”
Luna tilted her head as I spread out two of my fingers. “That’s strange. There was an order that no one should enter the main building….
“It’s alright if it was the first floor, but I hate that they came here to the second floor…” I said frankly.
I thought the second floor was a place I could use to enjoy, where my room was located. Dad’s room was also located here.
Luna rolled up her sleeves and headed towards the door. “I will go out and see. Ah right, Miss. Do you like orange juice?”
“Orange juice? Alright!”
’But why suddenly ask for orange juice?’
“That’s a relief. I saw the chef bring in a bunch of fresh oranges earlier in the morning. I think there will be orange juice served at dinner.”
“Wow!”
“I’ll secretly bring you a drink so you can taste it in advance.”
“Thank you, Luna.”
“You’re welcome. Just wait for a while, I’ll take care of everything and come back!”
Luna took off her apron and went out to bring me orange juice.
I wanted to sleep, so I climbed up the bed and laid down. This would be unimaginable if Pihne was here. I had to wipe my hands and feet with a wet towel, then change clothes before going up on the bed. Pihne told me that if I didn’t, I’d catch a cold easily.
I hated catching colds, but my body felt strangely heavy like wet cotton as soon as I entered my room.
(T/N: I though she’s gonna greet the brother and sister and duo, but it’s better she didn’t, they are sus [magnifying glass])
